I created this poster for the CD release of Twilight Broadcast's debut album 'Variety Show'. The band loved the poster and Stubb's was packed for the show. It was an all around great time to work with everyone.

Pickwick Easter Ad

Sometimes the first attempt fails. The first attempt at this ad did just that. I went to the restaurant, talked to the owner and staff, took some pictures and created a mini campaign for them. It didn't work. This was our second attempt and it worked. This simple invitation worked so well that they used it again.

Northland Summer Visitor 2007 Cover

Another project I did at the Duluth News Tribune was for the 2007 edition of their Summer Visitor magazine, as pictured at right. They went with a cover that was a photo montage. A lot of what they did was montages to the point that I didn’t want to see them anymore. My priority is to work with the client to develop a product that meets their needs while using an original idea. This may require a little more effort, but I believe it is worth it.

For this website, I was responsible for slicing up the Photoshop file and coding the CSS and HTML into a custom Wordpress theme. I was also responsible for creating areas where custom widgets could be placed.

Northland Summer Visitor 2008 Cover

Duluth, MN is the world's farthest inland sea port. The newspaper I worked for there releases a special magazine to promote business during the summer tourist season. This was my cover design for the 2008 issue. Since the city's identity is the lake and ships, I made these elements the focal point of the design. I was very happy to be the designer chosen to do this cover.

In creating this handout for the Revo sales team, the idea was to get out of the 'tech box'. Everything I saw was tech based, ads that require one to be plugged in or logged on to a screen. I wanted to create something that stood out, connected to people without the need to use technology, and it also needed a happy ending.

People from all over the world decend on Austin, TX in March for South by Southwest: 10 days of games, movies and music. With all the international bands in town, it can be hard for local bands to be noticed. Austin based Tiny Hawk Records asked me to do a poster featuring all the bands on their label.

Kim Carter Counseling is a counseling and psychotherapy practice based in Minneapolis, MN, taking a holistic approach to mental health. I was asked to create a logo that would encompass not only counseling and therapy but also a holistic approach as well.

Fitger's Ad Campaign

If you are ever in Duluth, MN you should go and check out the Fitger's Brewery Complex. It is a brewery that was started in the mid 1800's and was still running up until the early 1970's. It is now a shopping complex with a nice hotel. The ads were created to help Fitger's compete with the big box mall. By highlighting the unique elements that Fitger's has to offer, I was able to give them one of their best Christmas shopping seasons.

Nels Cline is a guitarist for the band Wilco. I was going to go see them when he came down with chicken pox. Because the show was postponed, a local screenprinter decided to hold a t-shirt design contest. The above was my submission and the show was rescheduled for my birthday.
